It is hard to believe that another year is drawing to a close. Where did it go? It was an eventful year on both a personal and professional front. A fair amount of time was spent on the water which yielded some amazing results. But often the experience was humbling and leaving me taking inventory of the many things I still need to learn about my home waters. One of the biggest mistakes an angler can make is to become complacent about the waters that one regularly fishes. Don't be routine and take a fresh look. I am constantly amazed about how much I continue to learn about water that I have fished for 40 years. The environment is alive and always changing. To me it is fascinating to observe, form opinions and draw conclusions. It is this interaction with the environs where fish live and the deeper connection required for success that makes fly fishing a special pursuit.
