![]() The bounty of the Great Lakes fishery never ceases to surprise me. When I first started steelhead fishing over thirty years ago, Ohio would hardly been considered a steelhead destination. But over the years a strong fishery has emerged and I have fished the Buckeye State in the past with good results. Last week I traveled west along Steelhead Alley for a presentation and book signing at the Ohio Central Basin Steelheaders club meeting. I met up with old friend Jerry Darkes and new friend Mitch Nahra to fish Ohio waters. We experienced great fishing on beautiful intimate pools as aggressive steelhead took flies on the swing. Some of the fish we landed appeared to be wild steelhead which only increased the value of the experience.

![]() In June of 2014 I will be teaming up with Reel Action Fly Fishing for a trip to the Reel Action Alaska Lodge on the famous Kanektok River. This river system offers some of the continent's best opportunity to tangle with big Chinook salmon fresh from the salt. We will also be chasing migratory chum salmon and large resident rainbows. I will be providing Spey casting clinics and personal lessons. There are still a few openings for the week. Contact me if you are interested in joining us on an adventure into the Alaskan wilderness and the land of the midnight sun. |
